Very high startup times on Android after 1.6 app update

Steps to reproduce

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]

Expected result

Faster startup time after 1.6 update.

Actual result

Startup time on android got higher (not good), even though the startup times on my windows pc and ipad got lower (better).

Environment

SYSTEM INFO:
Operating system: android 12 (samsung SM-G975F)
	Obsidian version: 1.6.7 (149)
	API version: v1.6.7
	Login status: logged in
	Catalyst license: none
	Live preview: on
	Base theme: dark
	Community theme: AnuPpuccin v1.4.5

	Plugins installed: 28
	Plugins enabled: 4
		1: Style Settings v1.0.8
		2: Omnisearch v1.22.2
		3: DataLoom v8.15.12
		4: Meld Encrypt v2.3.7

Same thing applies to my other android phones and other peoples phones on reddit as well though. Plugins or not doesn’t seem to matter.

Additional information

I was hoping the new update to improve the startup time so I actually measured it before making the update. It was about 3.7 seconds. And now (all versions after the 1.6 update) it’s taking about 5.5 seconds with the exact same plugins and no other changes as well.

As I said I didn’t experience the same issue on my windows pc or ipad where i had positive changes on the startup time after the (1.6) update. I also don’t seem to be the only one experiencing this as other people on reddit also report the exact same issue.

A 2 seconds addition doesn’t sound much, but considering the already high startup times on android, it really does make a big difference. It creates an extra barrier to my second brain which should be easily accessible at all times. I hope this can be fixed as soon as possible

There was no work in the startup area in 1.6.x, neither on desktop nor on mobile. There was some work on loading and editing files.

We are aware that mobile startup time is a pain point. On iOS too. There will be (not-too-far-in-the-future) release focused on mobile startup time improvements. I am gonna move this to help.

Oh ok I didn’t knew that. I guess faster loading also influences startup time in some way because many people had shorter startup times after the update (on desktop and IOS/Ipad OS).

On iOS too.

For me especially on my ipad and windows pc/laptop, startup is almost instant now which is really great. Only on android it’s super duper slow now (for me and other people as well).

That’s so good to hear. It’s such a struggle to have to wait over 5 seconds each time you want to look up or search something in your second brain. Hope it gets fixed soon
