(Apologies for the double post, accidentally deleted the old one in the Help forum)
Steps to reproduce
I’ve been using Obsidian for a few months now and have hundreds of files, including a few imported PDF and assorted image files (inline & in a dedicated folder).
I’ve set up Obsidian Sync for use across devices - desktop (Mac) and iOS (iPhone and iPad). The vault is encrypted/password protected.
When I open the vault on my iPhone lately (for the past week or so) the vault won’t open. The same with my iPad, which is brand new.
The error is either
"An error occurred while loading Obsidian. Error: The item couldn’t be opened because the file name “(vault name)” is invalid.
or
An error occurred while loading Obsidian. Error: The item couldn’t be opened because the file name “(file name).md” is invalid.
The file names are like “3.2.1 filename.md” or “file name.md”
I’ve deleted and re-installed Obsidian, and upgraded iOS to ensure nothing was cached in memory before opening Obsidian.
When first setting up Obsidian Sync (after a fresh install) it syncs hundreds of files (makes sense) but over a thousand folders (doesn’t make sense)
Currently: 379 files, 1,635 folders according to the app - it will stay open after the first sync but won’t load if I close and re-open Obsidian.
Did you follow the troubleshooting guide?
Yes.
Expected result
The vault would open!
Actual result
The vault won’t open.

Additional information
At this point I’m thinking of creating a new vault and painstakingly, one-by-one copying files over (on desktop), but my faith in Obsidian is shook and it saddens me that my “second brain” has developed these issues that cause me to not trust it as a note taking app.
Any help here would be appreciated.
