When I create a new entry (.md file), Obsidian creates multiple copies (178 in one instance). Also, entries vanish from Obsidian. It appears that they have been deleted from my computer. These issues are creating severe difficulties.
This post missed a lot of information, so here is a short point: some users experienced similar issues when the vault folder was located in some “cloud” folder (iCloud, OneDrive, GoogleDrive, Dropbox, etc.).
Cheers, Marko
So, what do I do?
Without more context, it will probably hard for anyone to guide you here :
- Where is your vault stored ?
- What’s your device/OS ?
- Do you sync your vault across devices ? If yes, how ? (what service do you use ?)
- Do you use any plugins ?
- Etc…
The fault is stored on my Google drive and is shared on my IMac and Microsoft Studio. They share the same Obsidian fault. I do not use sync because I got not get setup to work properly. I use a few plugin.
I don’t use Google Drive but I would check its settings to see if there’s an option to keep your vault and its content, local, at any given time …
Also, make you sure there’s no other “cloud” service involved (OneDrive on your PC and/or iCloud on your Mac, for example) … potentially ?.. As this could lead to “syncing loop” (cloud services fighting each other over your files)
If you keep your Obsidian vault(s) in Google Drive, you need to use the “Mirroring” option.
I’d also make sure no other sync services are involved, as Pch mentioned.
