Obsidian Roadmap - Obsidian now contains in Planned section:
Calendar view for Bases
Display files as an interactive calendar.
So, I think I’d throw in my suggestion early, before the design is solidified.
Use case or problem
I have a big issue with monthly calendar UI everywhere - starting from paper calendars and to every OS. All applications just blindly copying the paper constraints.
When one month comes to an end and another is about to start - it is not my problem. I want to see the neighborhood of today regardless.
Proposed solution
I already made an implementation using Datacore:
Rolling Calendar (using Datacore) - Share & showcase - Obsidian Forum
I don’t mind (wink, wink) if anyone else, including Obsidian developers, take inspiration from my example.
No pages or page-like behavior with weeks/months. It is always the neighborhood of today.
This way I always have sufficient context window, instead of suffering UI limitations.
Current workaround (optional)
If the feature is shipped with traditional constraints, then I either keep using my Datacore solution or look into making an alternative view with a plugin.
There already exists a calendar view plugin for Bases, but it uses some off-the-shelf calendar with traditional constraints - not acceptable.
