Understanding data hosting with Publisher

Things I have tried

What I’m trying to do

Hello everyone,

I am new to Obsidian and was planning to use it for the company I work at.
The planned usage for Obsidian is as a knowledge database that employees should have easy read only access to and that is maintained by only a few people.

The idea to achieve that was by editing the content with the executable and then use the Publisher to create the HTML files accessible from within the intranet with a browser for the read only view.
What I was hoping for:
on premise Vault => on premise Conversion from md to html => on premise hosting of the html

However, my current understanding is, that the Vault is on premise, but the published sites/pages/content is not:
on premise Vault => online Conversion from md to html => online hosting of the html

All the FAQ/HowTo info about “My custom site/URL” etc. is just about pointing from my domain to the publicly available domain https://publish.obsidian.md/my-domain/site.

Is this correct, or is there a way to do the hosting and conversion on premise as well?
Cheers and thanks!

Obsidian Publish is not selfhostable.
It’s a SaaS offering.
