Unable to open vault

May 26th - My vault is current in ‘Open Recents’ but when I click on it nothing happens.

I have a years worth of work and it’s not backed up.

I don’t know what else to do besides attempt to open it.

If you share a bit more info, it might make it easier for others to troubleshoot.

  • What’s your OS/OS version?
  • What’s your Obsidian version/Obsidian installer version?
  • Where do you keep your vault(s)? In Documents? In your Home folder?
  • Can you find/see your files using File Explorer (windows) or the Finder (mac)?
  • Do you use any kind of cloud service (OneDrive, Dropbox, etc). If yes, is your vault in one of those folders?

Did you happen to move your vault? That “Open Recents” is just a list of names of vaults you’ve had open. If you moved the vault using your computer’s file browser, Obsidian won’t know where to find it.

If this is the case, and you know where your vault is stored:

In Obsidian, go to “Open another vault”, and then you can just “Open”, and browse to the vault.
