Unable to open vault or create a new one

Starting yesterday, Obsidian on Macbook M1 stopped working for me. Version 0.15.19. When I start it, it shows the window to create/open the vault (which is unusual by itself, typically it would go directly into the vault). Selecting the vault flashes a window like a vault is opening and closes it right away, going back to the initial screen to create/open the vault

Creating a new vault - produces the same effect, unable to open it.
No changes to settings have been done recently.
On Android - vault works (using obsidian sync)

Any recommendations? Where do I look at log files? Any suggestions on how to debug it?

is it possible that your vault is open in the background and you don’t see it?

Restart your computer.
