VAULT OPERATIONS DOES NOT COVER closing a current vault.
I don’t believe there is a command to close the current vault. If there were, it would have to bring you to the option of either creating a new vault or opening an existing vault in order to continue using Obsidian. So, in some ways it seems more efficient that rather than closing a vault, you simply have these two options which have the side effect of closing the current vault.
It may make sense for you to create an inactive vault that you keep empty and only use it in this manner. On the other hand it may make more sense for to have a close vault command depending on your workflow. So perhaps you might want to create a feature request.

thanks. To be sure, it would make Obsidian a more of a smart app if there was a CLEAR CUT close button for closing down a vault.
