Trapped in vim insert mode after entering the first time

What I’m trying to do

Trying to switch between insert and edit mode back and forth

  • Obsidian opens with keybindings in Edit mode,
  • typing ‘i’ puts me in Insert mode
  • Escape should put me in Edit mode again – but I’m trapped in Insert mode.
