Transferring Obsidian to another computer

Hi. I’m trying to transfer Obsidian to a new computer, I would like to keep everything in the same form as on the old computer, so that there is the same storage, plug-ins and settings for them, program settings.

What I’m doing.

I copy the program folder to the new computer. When I first start, they ask me where the storage is located, and I specify the address in this folder. After that, the storage with recordings is loaded, but the program settings, theme, and plug-ins are not picked up, everything is standard and pure Obsidian.

What am I doing wrong? How do I make an exact copy? Or do I need to set up all the settings myself?

Have you allowed community plugins on the new computer or is the vault still in restricted mode?

Settings - Community plugins - Restricted mode

Obsidian appears to keep most of its settings in the hidden “.obsidian” folder in each vault. So you can have different settings for each vault such as the storage, plugins and settings. So when i use Obsidian on a different machine (also a different OS) it still looks the same. When i import my vault on the new machine, it brings along all my plugins and settings for that particular vault.

But yes, there are some global settings that don’t move so you have to make sure they are configured the same. I don’t beleive those settings are stored in the program’s folder though.

Thanks for your help. I reassigned the storage and Obsidian saw the files, plugins, and settings. It looks like I was specifying the wrong folder location before.
