I’m on macOS and using iCloud to sync my Obsidian vault.
You get a choice when creating a new vault and I picked iCloud Drive → Obsidian → Obsidian Vault.
Turns out that the location for the publish files is not under the new vault I created but under Obsidian Vault. Hopes this helps someone!
