The linked bug report says that Android WebView Web Speech API is broken since May 2015(!). Chromium
It is said that due to this, text-to-speech community plugins will not work on Android Mobiles, which I confirm.
I have the hope that Obsidian developers find a way to either make Google developers understand the issue and eventually fix it, or use a better platform (like Chromium?) instead of the broken one for the Android builds, because customers and some niche app developers were not heard by Google for so many years.
Steps to reproduce
- Take an Android Mobile, e.g. a Samsung Galaxy Tab S
- Install Obsidian
- Take a note
- Install a text-to-speech plugin, e.g. Plugins - Obsidian
- Enable it
- Go to its options and try to set a default voice → fails
- Press the play button without a default voice → fails

Expected result
I expect that the plugin works the same way as it does (positively checked) on Windows
Actual result
Default voice option field is empty instead of offering choices to select from, test playback does nothing, note playback from menu does not speak but returns error message
