Templates plugin no longer recognizes the root directory of an Obsidian vault as a "Template folder location"

After updating to Obsidian v1.4.5, the Templates plugin has stopped to recognize the root directory of a vault as a valid template folder location.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open settings.
  2. Go to “Templates” under “Core plugins”.
  3. Set “Template folder location” to “/”.

  1. Close settings.
  2. Open any note.
  3. Select the “Templates: Insert template” command from the Command palette.

Expected result

For a proper template selection window to appear.

Actual result

An error message “Failed to list templates. Template folder is invalid.”

That’s correct. You have to pick another folder for storing your templates.
