I am trying to sync my vault settings with Obsidian sync. I currently use Obsidian sync but I haven’t been able to get anything in the .obsidian folder to sync. I use a Desktop, Laptop, and mobile.
Things I have tried
I have tried reloading Obsidian on all devices, I make sure they’re all connected to the internet at the same time, and I don’t use any custom settings profiles. I made sure all of the vaults are connected, and I have all the notes syncing correctly. However, everything in the .obsidian is ignored. I’ve searched through the help guide for sync but haven’t found any solutions. I have my Obsidian sync settings configured to sync every type of file, and I have not excluded any folders.
When I used iCloud syncing this wasn’t an issue because it would just sync the folder, so I know that hidden folders can be synced somehow.
Sync doesn’t sync Sync’s settings. This allows users to configure Sync differently on each device according to their needs. This means, however, that you must configure custom Sync settings on each device.
I’d check that you’ve enabled the Sync settings and set what you would like synced (file types & settings) on the other devices as well.
I usually make a copy of my {VAULT}/.obsidian settings folder on my “main” device as a backup before I change any settings on other devices. I’ve never had a problem, but I think it’s a good idea anyway.
