Sync Separate Vaults and After reaching 10GB

What I like to Know:

Is it possible to sync vaults without attaching them to the Root Vault?

I prefer my vaults separate but within reach, like having ideas in separate folders, but for vaults. It keeps my ideas organized and clean as that is my workflow.

What happens after I have filled up my 10GB Space?

Will 10GB be added if I continue my subscription? Or Will I need to back up the vault and move it elsewhere?

Personally I would feel more comfortable to keep it where it is. I have seen others use Obsidian for over 5 years, so I just want to be sure it’s possible for me to keep Obsidian for as long if not longer.

Thank you in advance!

The 10 GB is an account-wide storage limit, not another 10 GB added with each subscription renewal. Version history and attachments count toward it too. If you reach the limit, Sync stops syncing files until you free up space or increase your storage allowance.

Ok! I’ll consider backing up my stuff for future reference. Thank you for answering that question!

OK UPDATE!!!

I found the answer to my first question!

To sync my different vaults without merging them together, here is the following:

  • I created separate Sync Vaults
  • Name the separate Sync Vaults the same name as the vaults you want to sync, but with “Sync” at the end to tell the difference
  • Connected them to the Syncing Subscription I have
  • Check to make sure the vault matches the Sync Vault by name
  • Open Obsidian on a different device I use (Ipad Air 2020 for me)
  • Go to Manage Vaults and Set up Obsidian Sync
  • Choose an existing Sync Vault and then choose Create Vault
  • Enter your password you created for it

You should be able to see the stuff you made on say, your phone now on your tablet or pc! Otherwise I hope this will help others in the future as the Create Vault button is what threw me off the most in this process.
