Use case or problem
I use obsidian as an advanced word processor. I need dozens of active vaults, and will eventually accumulate hundreds and thousands of old, inactive, vaults. Even massive vaults will only use a few megabytes each. I want to use Sync but the plans expect 1-10 enormous vaults instead of a plethora of tiny ones.
My Use Case
- Create one vault for each novel, short story, project, RPG campaign, etc.
- Folders are conceptual breaks like characters, locations, plots, project parts, etc.
- Notes are chapters, session overviews, individual instances of those concepts, etc.
- I use links to connect all of the notes together so I can easily change a character's name, find all of the times a location shows up, link back to the details for a component, etc.
Proposed solution
I propose a Sync plan with 50 active vaults and 100MB of storage. Include an archive function to easily remove inactive vaults from Sync and a restore function to bring them back. Export archived vaults as a zip file to be stored elsewhere.
Current workaround (optional)
The only work around I see is not paying Obsidian for Sync and coming up with a way to use 3rd party file syncing.
Related feature requests (optional)
Other people have different use cases than mine but also can’t find a way to use the existing Sync plans. I tried to include a link to the other topic, as requested, but the forum said I’m not allowed to.
