Sync encryption of filename?

I’m subscribed to the Sync service and I understand that it encrypts the contents of my files.

However, I’ve not been able to find out whether or not the file names are encrypted, for example:

john.doe-client-notes.md

There may be lots of examples where sensitive information is stored within the filename.

My four questions are:

  • Is the filename encrypted?
  • Are folder names encrypted?
  • Are non-“.md” files encrypted?
  • Are non-“.md” filenames encrypted?

Answers to this would ideally be in the documentation because I’ve seen similar (unanswered) questions on Reddit.

My understanding of “your vault” = everything within it.
