Suggestion for Optimizing the Indentation Setting of Obsidian List Items

Function Request Feedback

Requirement Description

Hope that the official can add a switch function to Obsidian to enable/disable the overall side indentation of list items. Currently, in the text format with the overall left alignment, the indentation of the list items has a sense of incongruity with other text content that is aligned to the left in an orderly manner. Although the indentation can effectively play a role in dividing levels, the sense of disconnection during reading is more obvious. Especially on the mobile phone side, the indentation of the list items will cause a more significant sense of blankness, resulting in fewer words in each line of the list items and making reading more laborious.

Tried/Imagined Solutions

Have tried to adjust through CSS. Since I am not proficient in coding, I just made some attempts according to the simple CSS tutorials on the Internet. However, during the practice, it was found that adjusting the indentation of the list items through CSS would affect too many other elements, and finally failed to solve the problem successfully, and no better solution was found on the Internet.

Others

In daily use, more attention is paid to the overall appearance and reading experience of the text content presentation. When dealing with content containing more list items, due to the above-mentioned problem of list item indentation, the reading efficiency and experience are greatly reduced. It is hoped that this switch function can be provided to meet the usage needs in different scenarios, such as quickly and smoothly reading relevant document content on the mobile phone side.

With respect, you used a lot of words to say very little. You haven’t actually described what the problem is, or what you wish the change was.

I suspect it was LLM-generated.

Moving to Help , so hopefully you can add more details, and someone can help you with CSS or other suggestions.
