Struggling with basic css selector - Obsidian web clipper

Hello, Obsidian is great and so’s the web clipper extension. But hit a snag….

What I’m trying to do

Obisidan web clipper Firefox extention. Wanting a template to clip Merriam Webster entries (ie: words and definitions). Trying to have a clipper template use the word as the note title of Merriam Webster entries. Eg: the word ‘obisian’ of this page: OBSIDIAN Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster

Things I have tried

Variations of the css selector of the main word element like: {{selector:h1}}, {{selector:.hword}} but I just get blank.

Unexepctedly, (clipping the definition which is a bit more complicated with selectors) is working fine.

Thanks for any help.

Similarly, the definition isn’t working: {{selector:.dtText|first}}

Weirdly both variables worked fine a few hours ago… :thinking:

That’s odd that it worked then stopped. Are you sure the right template is being applied when you clip?

I tested in the Firefox extension, and all of these return “obsidian” for me:
{{schema:@DefinedTerm:name}}
{{selector:h1}}
{{selector:.hword|first}}

Thanks for replying. I’ve realised it is an issue when I’ve set the ‘Open behaviour’ setting to ‘Embedded’ rather than ‘Pop up’. I see this is a bug that has been reported: BUG: Embedded open behavior breaks selectorHtml extraction · Issue #660 · obsidianmd/obsidian-clipper · GitHub

I prefer the embeeded view but will have to revert to pop up until it’s fixed.
