Startup time caused by "workspace"

My startup time is generally slow, and on first startup (after I switch on the PC) I see the message “Reload in restricted mode”. Looking at the startup time breakdown, I can see that most of the time is requred by “Workspace” (the one below is quite fast, sometimes it is worse). How can I enhance this timing?

In one similar thread someone found that it was the Tasks plugin. Updating the plugin solved it for them. Are your plugins up to date?

Also your Obsidian installer is wildly out of date. You should download and reinstall Obsidian.

Thanks for your reply. I have updated to the latest installer; plugins are always updated.

Looking at other threads, it seems like the problem I could have is that the whole vault is inside a OneDrive folder. Strange thing is that it’s slow only on first startup: if I close and reopen, it’s very fast…

Is your OneDrive folder set to always downloaded? It should be.

If none of that helps, you might want to try backing up your workspace.json settings file(s) and then deleting them so they generate fresh files. (Back them up so if the test doesn’t solve anything you can put your old layout back.)

I had a similar problem.

Try to disable virus scanning for specific OneDrive folders used in Wokspaces.

This was the culprit of my slow startup.

This is applicable to built in Windows antivirus and/or 3rd party. Once I have excluded specific folders from scanning the Obsidian starts like a🚀

This seems to be the problem, in fact.

I disabled the antivirus as well, and the startup is now way faster! Thank you for your help.

Hint: disable AV protection only to your vault by adding exception to exclude specific directory.
