Slash and dashes in note title

I wanted to rename my note name (file) from “Chapter 1” to “Chapter 1-2” as in both chapter 1 and 2. Obsidian did not seem to like that because it created a new note with the folder location in the name and my original note disappeared. I also tried with both forward slash and backward slash but that seems to be giving similar results. Why is it so?

My solution is to have it named “Chapter 1_2”, it just looks ugly

I can’t replicate this. I created a note named “Chapter 1-2” and it worked fine, and renamed “Chapter 1” to “Chapter 1-2” and it worked. I’m using the desktop app.

I’ve never seen that happen with dash. (With slashes it’s expected because those are used as folder separators in filenames.) Do you see the same behavior after turning on Settings > Community Plugins > Restricted Mode? If so, what operating system are you using?

I think that the problem was that I changed the file name from another file, thus creating a new file. This was quite stupid of me lol. Changing the file name from the note in question works fine
