I read Wordpress XML to TXT or MKD
and I try “How to export a large Wordpress site to Markdown”.
Why are all interesting discussions always closed without a solution? 
I don’t understand how I execute js!
I exported my site from wordpress, and I have the xml, and also the zipper with the images, but how do I convert it?
It would take a plugin that also imports from wordpress format!
I’ve been trying unsuccessfully off-and-on for years to do the same. The Swizec option just simply didn’t work for me (I end up with blank folders output), and any other converter I can find seems unable to handle such a large XML file. There has to be a simpler solution than copying-and-pasting thousands of posts one by one.
