Show subbullets in a list as linked mentions

I want to use Daily Notes to keep track of news items in lists like the following:

12/29/2021

[[fruits]]
- [[apples]]
  - apple news 1
- [[pears]]
  - pear news 1

12/30/2021

[[fruits]]
- [[apples]]
  - apple news 2
- [[pears]]
  - pear news 2

What I would like is to go to the [[fruits]] page and see a linked mention for [[apples]] with apple news 1 and 2 and [[pears]] with pear news 1 and 2.

Currently, all I get is a linked mention to the pages for the different dates.

My current workaround is to simply copy and paste the different parts of the outline into separate pages, but that gets tedious.
