Show a complete preview of the canvas (including text) when a canvas is embedded in a note

Also throwing my hat into this ring. After bases, being able to embed Canvas blocks (or sections of blocks) from into notes would make Obsidian significantly more sticky than it already is for me today.

I’ve just noticed this limitation. I still put my simple canvas in the note as bookmark but it could be very if it will possible to render, at least in a simplified way, the content of canvas blocks.

In my case, each node is a note that shows a preview in the canvas but it could be enough to have just the name when embedded in a note.

mark this up. waiting for the feature

+1 for this feature!

+1 An awesome feature to have.

This is very needed, I must miss something about why this is not implemented yet, there must be a secret limitation/blockage to its implementing that we don’t know about.

Gonna also +1 this

I want my grandchildren to see nice interactive canvas embeddings in my will.

+1 this would be awesome to implement

Just here to voice my support.
It seems like this would also make ā€œnestedā€ canvases possible, which would be very useful.

I see many threads on this that are years old now. Is there any intention to do this? I’m curious what the use case is for the way it currently is. Why would anyone embed a canvas with no text?

+1 for this!!!

+1 for this.

I know Excalidraw exists and is very successful, which may be why this isn’t prioritized, but it would be really nice not having to install yet another plugin, especially when so much of the basic functionality already exists.

Not being able to easily embed diagrams created with canvas feels clunky.

I use the canvas a lot to create model diagrams, being able to preview these within a note would be great.

Being able to see canvas embedded into a note and being able to export that note as a pdf (saving the canvas as something like an svg) would be perfect for many users.

But why should the devs do it? To make us happy? I want to say that it’s not only a good feature for the users but because it will be good for Obsidian itself since a dev team that participates with users is more likely to receive donations. I personally am waiting on this feature before I donate since it means that devs listened.

+1 and support canvas in canvas embed
