Shared mindmaps - where are they?

Hello, I’m new here but I have used Obsidian for over 6 years now, 4 of which I have been super interested in the idea of shared mindmaps - think of “obsidian but multiplayer”.

I have been told a few times that “stuff like this has been done before”. But has it?

Do you know any websites, apps or projects that aim to have people build a collective mindmap?

I myself didn’t find anything close (And I did look!) At least not anything that didn’t treat the data visualization aspect as an afterthought, which even obsidian is guilty of imho.

I tried to give it a go myself and the result is this prototype:https://aphant.dev

What do you think, is it a dead end is this kind of idea something to persue?

I completely understand your pain point with shared mindmaps in Obsidian. From a personal perspective, when I try to co-maintain mindmaps with team members, the lack of effective sharing mechanisms leads to version inconsistencies and difficult information synchronization.

From my personal experience, in team projects I often have to rely on additional tools due to inconvenient mindmap sharing. This not only interrupts the thinking flow but also easily causes context gaps and duplicated effort.

I recently discovered a tool called Flowacts, an AI chat + AI workflow tool that can transform work into a shared canvas and support smooth collaboration from personal to team level. It might help you better connect personal thinking with team input.

Hope my suggestion helps you.
