Steps to reproduce
This applies to Android and iOS:
- Open Obsidian, create new note.
- Switch to (what seems to be nearly any) gallery/photos app. Select photos you wish to share, and share to Obsidian.
- When the UI switches back to obsidian, tap “import into vault”. After it’s finished importing, tap "insert link(s) into (note title).
Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]
Yes. I have 4 phones to test: A galaxy s20 and s24+, a OnePlus 7 Pro, and an iPhone 15.
I am experiencing the same issue with all of them - version 1.10.3.
as soon as I go to APKMirror and install version 1.9.14 (clean install, no snippets, plugins, or vaults) then the issue is fixed on all Android devices. I can not roll back app versions on iOS unfortunately.
Sorry, I forgot to mention in the original post - the reason this is an issue is because there are multiple feature requests from 2023 about adding the ability to select multiple photos on mobile when creating notes. As of now nearly 2026, if you have 20 photos you can still only import 1 photo/attachment at a time through Obsidian editor. The only saving grace was the share function through android, as I’m assuming Obsidian won’t be implementing that feature request.
(Click here - Why using plugins is just not ideal for this basic functionality)
Some users suggest plugins - but this ability is just too basic...also, I got kicked in the shins (lol) when Anki (the flashcard app) went down a road where "the new and improved" version dropped support for a lot of beloved plugins. Also, you have to trust more people to not do anything malicious with the plugins, or expose you by accident. They may get bored of maintaining the plugin, lose incentive because not enough donations, quit randomly, etc - that's why the only plugin I'm relying on right now is Omnisearch unfortunately. I'm building my workflow to not use plugins for long term use (unless its a short project maybe).Expected result
Attachments are embedded into the note E.g. ![[test.jpg]]
Actual result
Attachments are NOT embedded into the note - they get entered as an internal link, but without the exclamation mark at the beginning e.g. [[test.jpg]]
this seems to apply to any type of attachment, not just photos.
So viewing attachments on a note created on mobile is nowhere close to smooth anymore, having to manually insert the exclamation mark individually.
However, Desktop versions of obsidian function properly.
