Selective Sync for Configuration Settings in Obsidian?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to achieve a setup where I can sync most of my Obsidian configuration settings across devices using Obsidian Sync, but I’d like to keep a few settings device-specific. Unfortunately, it seems like the current options are either syncing everything or ending up with completely separate configurations per device. I am using Obsidian in three devices and would only want to have different configurations for one of the plugins.

Is there any workarounds compatible with Obsidian Sync?

No, sorry. The only other option is to use separate settings profiles, which is an even more extreme separation.

There’s probably a feature request for finer grained selective sync that you could upvote.

I assume it’s the same for themes? Or is it somehow easier to keep different themes in different devices?

Depending on which device you want with a different configuration, could you live with having most of the configuration the same, and whenever you sync it gets overwritten, but then you have the other one as a copy somewhere and copy it in over the other?

And I do believe there is some plugin(s) allowing to do some configuration manipulation, but I’m not sure if it’s suitable or not in your specific case. See the Settings Management plugin.

Yes, same for themes.

I don’t think that would work for me. Mostly I want to use the e-ink minimal theme in my e-ink device and a different theme in the other devices, while the rest of the settings stay the same. I don’t think that plugin can help.
