Seeking advice about Obsidian Publish

Hi, I’m new to Obsidian and still finding my way around and am also testing Obsidian Publish. I’ve be grateful for any advice or suggestions about how to make the most of Publish.

What I’m trying to do

Having set up a vault, installed some useful plugins and added content, I was hoping to publish it online and I’ve got Publish working. However, I had initially assumed that I’d see the same formatting online as I see in my local vault. I realise now that’s not the case.

For example, I’ve installed an Image Caption plugin and the Meta Bind plugin, which I use to create buttons. Neither of these appear in the published version of my vault.

Am I missing something obvious that will allow image captions and buttons to appear?

Also, and this is really just a comment, I had assumed that the theme and styling I’ve applied to my vault would transfer automatically to the online, published version but that’s not the case. I’ve installed the Minimal Publish theme but it seems I have to manually adjust the publish.css file to achieve the same style settings as I see in my vault.

Have I overlooked something or is that not quite an awkward way of managing styles, fonts, colours etc.?

Things I have tried

I think I’ve found my way around Obsidian pretty well. I like it. It does a lot of what I need without being overly complicated. But perhaps my expectations about the Publish option were unrealistic and it might be better to live with default options and remove the need to alter the .css file.

Because I’ve hit a block, I thought I’d ask for feedback from more experienced users. Any advice or pointers about using Obsidian Publish without too much back-end work would be gratefully received. Thanks.
