What I’m trying to do
Things I have tried
Hi everyone,
For the past few versions, I’ve been experiencing an annoying issue in Obsidian. When I search for a word or number within my notes, Obsidian no longer highlights the found word, but only positions the cursor. This makes it very inconvenient, especially when working with tables and needing to quickly identify what I’m looking for.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Have you found a solution or know of any plugins that could help resolve this issue?
I’m using the global Search (in the sidebar). I am using the default theme and haven’t made any modifications to the CSS. Unfortunately, the issue persists.
If needed, I can provide a screenshot to illustrate the problem.
Here is the video. As you can see, when I search for a word, it finds and highlights it. However, when I search for a number in a table, it only positions the cursor there, making it difficult to spot if you have a large list. I don’t remember exactly, but I’m fairly certain that in some previous releases it used to highlight the number.
I don’t have time to rollback to previous versions to check, but if you think the behavior has changed, you can file a bug report. But, please, follow the template and test with a table in the Sandbox vault. Including a GIF like your one above (but in the Sandbox vault) would be helpful. You can also link to this topic.
No, I mean make a bug report, following the steps and including the template, in the bug report category here in the forum. Bug reports for the app are collected here.
I see the issue in my main vault with a big table of IP addresses. Sorry I didn’t report back here.
Let’s see what the team thinks. The new table editor was a big change, so it might be difficult to restore the search result highlighting within a table.
