Do you have this problem on iOS or macOS?
If it’s ios, no need for further proof.
Thanks for the prompt response - it’s iOS (iOS 17.1.2) on my iPhone 11 Pro, and same issue on my iPad.
Not an issue on my MacBook.
I can also reproduce this with a long markdown note with the latest version on iOS on my iPhone 12 mini. In addition to that, when I navigate to the References heading, you can see that the viewport jumps to somewhere else entirely.
I am impressed by how well Obsidian performs other than this on large files, and it’s the whole reason I want to use it. I’d say this isn’t a minor bug.
Also, I am happy to provide this markdown file if it will help debug.
Here is the note I was using: rust.md (25.7 KB)
Happens with me as well.
This is also a regular issue for me on the iOS app. I use Obsidian often and most of my notes require scrolling; I deal with the issue every time I use the app. I would also consider this a major issue for me. The Reading View workaround is helpful. I hope the original bug is resolved at some point.
Bumping this – happens constantly with a long note on iOS, even in a sandbox vault with one note.
Here’s the video. Note contains 4,722 words, 30,199 characters, 21 backlinks and 14 properties.

Any long notes, even those with simple te t content, suffer from this behavior.
iPhone 11, iOS 17.6.1 (21G93)
Still an issue and still hoping for a proper fix!
I’m currently using the workaround where I toggle to reading view when u need to scroll. It’s really annoying…
Confirming this is happening to me as well on iOS (iPhone 16 pro max) and M4 iPad 11.
Just found out through this thread about the reading mode work around to be able to smooth scroll around notes. Be a nice quality of life bug fix.
Confirming this happens to me (every day ) on my iPhone 13 mini, even on a fresh start of Obsidian in restricted mode with all core plugins turned off and the default theme.
To trigger the behaviour edit mode appears to be necessary (in either live preview or source mode) as well as a dataviewjs code block (even if the actual dataview plugin is off - the presence of even a short 10 line codeblock is enough to make this behaviour appear - even if scrolling through part of the document where the block is not visible).

Have to agree this is an important bug to address. It consistently occurs on iOS, not often per se since it mainly occurs on larger notes but it reliably returns anytime it stops happening for long. I appreciate the temporary fix with Reading Mode that was suggested though!
+1 im a new (and paying) customer, using for first time. using sync across 2 devices. have 1 file with ~1000 lines of markdown and inline and block math notation. macos version seems to work. ios version (on iphone 16e) is skipping/jerky when i:
- swipe to scroll
- use scroll “bar” on side of screen to scroll
basically, the scrolling is smooth initially, then the document seems to jump to a random location further than where the scrolling should have ended.
