Run obsidian Sync plugin without running the whole application?

Things I have tried

I skimmed a lot of the search results under ‘sync’

What I’m trying to do

I’d like to try to use a different text editor besides obsidian for day to day editing, but I’d still like to keep the offical sync plugin running. My computer is pretty old, so I’d like to keep obsidian itelf closed when I’m not using it.

Is there a way to run the sync tool as a standalone utility? My computer is a mac. I’m also a programmer so if it requires using a cli tool that’s cool too!

Thanks

This is not currently possible. I’m 90% there is already a #feature-requests for this, but if there isn’t feel free to open one
