Use case or problem
When copy past information from other sources, such as wikipedia to reference in your own Obsidan vault, you do not always want to maintain all the external links.
Below the copy past example from wiki to obsidian :
Science Without Numbers: A Defence of Nominalism is a 1980 book on the philosophy of mathematics by Hartry Field. In the book, Field defends nominalism, the view that mathematical objects such as numbers do not exist. The book was written broadly in response to an argument for the existence of mathematical objects called the indispensability argument.
I want to remove ALL the links to external links EXCEPT the philosophy of mathematics external link.
Proposed solution
Remove an external reference link with a shortcut or drop down menu options
Below is the current drop down list after right click, an option of “Remove link” would help and a shortcut similar to “cmd + v” or “cmd + c”
Current workaround (optional)
Manual typing

Workarounds:
- For text that doesn’t have other formatting that you care about, you can use Shift Cmd V to paste without formatting. (If you want to paste without formatting by default, there is an option in Settings > Editor.)
- One of the regular expression search-replace plugins would make it easier to remove links.
- There may be other helpful plugins that don’t require tinkering with regular expressions.
I edited the title for clarity and brevity (was “Native: Remove an external reference link with a shortcut or drop down menu option”).
@CawlinTeffid thank you for the workaround options and modifications.
- I do use past without formatting. However, sometimes you want to maintain the formatting but want to removed the links.
Plugins are a around. Having it part of the native Obsidian would improve the experience
Thanks for the for good work

Text Format adds a command to Remove URL links format in selection
.
I agree that such option should be in core, for both markdown links and wikilinks.
@peeragetalkers Awesome. Ill give it a try. Hopefully it is added to core
