Reading Mode: Custom Image Size is ignored for external images

Custom Image Size is ignored for external images in Reading mode.

It works in Live Preview/Editor. Is not resized in Reading mode.

This works if the | is used, but it should not be necessary.

Steps to reproduce

• copy any web-based image url and paste using markdown link format. here’s a sample https://forum.obsidian.md/uploads/default/original/3X/2/6/26fd792a2dd1412e4c0e4cd6868911aa4ba3654e.png
• replace the alt text with a number to resize the picture e.g. ![400](https://forum.obsidian.md/uploads/default/original/3X/2/6/26fd792a2dd1412e4c0e4cd6868911aa4ba3654e.png)
• observe the image size in Live Preview (obey the sizing) vs Reading View (ignore the sizing)

Expected result

The image resizing should apply to Reading View as well. I put a size 400 but it’s only applied to Live Preview.

Actual result

Image resizing did not apply to Reading View. On related note, I tested on different scenarios i.e.

• web image using markdown link ![400](https://forum.obsidian.md/uploads/default/original/3X/2/6/26fd792a2dd1412e4c0e4cd6868911aa4ba3654e.png)
• local image using wikilink ![[Pasted image 20230611180457.png|400]]
• local image using markdown link ![400](Pasted%20image%2020230611180457.png)

and here is the resultant html – we can see that web image using markdown link doesn’t capture width in Reading View (but it does in Live Preview)

Web Images are resized in reading mode

Image, inserted with this syntax: ![]() resizes in preview mode after you edit some text in a note. This happens only if there is no additional carriage return between text and an image. here’s additional information. putting an alt text and width number i.e. [caption|200](web/url/image.jpg) renders the image width properly both in editing and reading view. the bug seems to affect reading view when u only declare the width number i.e. [200](web/url/image.jpg)

Just ran into this and was going to file a BR.

If users use the markdown example from the image help docs:

the image won’t be resized in Reading view. Adding only a pipe (|) before the width number resizes the image properly; no extra alt text is needed.
