Important Note
Popularity of a Feature Request is one of the factors we consider when we decide which new features to implement. Therefore, we strongly recommend you to search the forum with possible keywords.
If your request is very similar to an existing one, like it () and make a meaningful comment, rather than creating a new thread. It also keeps the forum sane! If you find duplicate threads, feel free to send the moderators a message.

Use case or problem
Hi everyone, This has probably been asked before, but I couldn’t find anything relevant. In Obsidian, the backlinks section at the bottom of a note makes it very easy to create links from the “Unlinked Mentions” area. You can just press the Link button and the reference is instantly converted into a wiki link. However, unlinking is much more tedious. If I want to remove a linked mention, I have to manually open the original note and delete the double square brackets myself. Is there a plugin, setting, or workflow that allows you to unlink a note directly from the Linked Mentions section, similar to how linking works from the Unlinked Mentions section?
Proposed solution
Add an Unlink button beside linked mentions in the backlinks panel. Pressing it would automatically remove the double square wiki link formatting from the source note while preserving the plain text.
This would work similarly to the existing one-click Link functionality for unlinked mentions.
Current workaround (optional)
I have to go into each note to manually remove the double squared brackets around a specific word.
