Use case or problem
There are some Android devices that don’t have Google Play.
Proposed solution
Since Obsidian is free, why not publish the Android apk as FOSS? Would be best to do this through F-Droid, but making it available on the website is also an option.
Even if the app belongs to a paid tier, it can be done i.e. one can download it from FOSS, but unlock the functionality by purchasing it from within the app.
