Sorry for the amateur question, but would love to go to my directory and see (e.g.) my main.md file and not a blank mystery file. Thanks!

Publish (paper plane icon)>settings>manage homepage, can set the file from there
Still no idea what the previous mystery homepage was, but that is very low priority. It is working now. Sorry about that!
