Use case or problem
Obsidian Publish storage limits forces us to be mindful of image usage. On the other hand, Obsidian Sync users have larger storage limits (10gb, 50gb) which does allow us to have high quality pictures on our vaults.
It would be great if Obsidian Publish had a setting to compress and/or resize images on the server. Example: a photo from my phone would still be 5mb on my vault, but on Publish it would be compressed to 1mb, occupying less storage from my 4gb limit.
Proposed solution
Optional setting to compress images uploaded to Publish. Possibly another setting to downscale image on longest edge (e.x. 1000px).
Setting could just be enabled/disabled and have the same compression settings for everyone. Users who want finer control over quality settings could still resize images on their own vaults.
Current workaround (optional)
There are plugins that compress an image on paste, but that doesn’t work on mobile. They do have options for compressing all images in a note or folder, but it is more work to share a quick note. It also compresses the original image, which I may want to keep
