I think that this is left over from dragging and image into a note. Once the progress box appears on the screen, it persists as I move from note to note. There is never any progress shown. I need to quit Obsidian and restart it to make the progress box disappear.
I may be able to control this. It appears that the progress dialogue box is a part of the image Converter plugin. I can turn off the progress notification. I am usually only tucking a single image into notes, so a progress indicator is not really an issue. If I was storing a list of images in a note, I might be interested. OTOH, it good show only when there is progress to be reported.
I have turned off the progress dialogue box in the plugin.
