What I’m trying to do

I closed the Obsidian app on my Mac desktop yesterday. However, when I reopened it this morning it has taken me to a launch screen which asks:

  • Create new vault
  • Open folder as vault
  • Open vault from Obsidian Sync

Why is it showing this screen and where is my vault?

Your vault is where you created it, there is no default location.

It sounds like you used the help vault as your starting point.
The help vault has been removed from the list,
the files are still available in ~/Library/Application Support/Obsidian/Obsidian Help.

Please move your notes to a different location and open it as a vault.
