Possible dupe - Windows 11 - Spellcheck borken

Background

I moved my vaults to a new Windows 11 machine. This problem appeared on the new machine.

Steps to reproduce

  • Open a file or create a new one.
  • Enter a test word like ‘teh’.
  • It’s recognized and underlined as misspelled.

Did you read and follow the Troubleshooting Guide ?

I’ve done extensive troubleshooting to nail down the problem. Although I don’t understand the innards of Obsidian, I’m 99% confident that the problem isn’t a plugin or theme.

Expected result

Bringing up the context menu doesn’t show alternative correct spellings. It should.

Actual result

No candidates for replacement appear in the context menu.

Environment

NOTE: This is for the downgraded version, which is functioning properly.

Additional information

I’ve downgraded to 1.12.7 which is working. However, the tradeoff in terms of plugins that work is really distasteful.

I realize that this isn’t an Obsidian problem. However, I’m in the middle of my semester, and I’m a terrible speller. And I’m a worse typist. I rely on both the spellcheck to work and plugins. Downgrading isn’t really an option for me. Living without spellcheck is awful.

Thanks for taking the time to read this far. I appreciate your effort. I’m at your service if you need anything.

Respectfully,
Greg

Also, I’m using just one language.

I’ve restored v 1.13.7 via General → check for updates.

Spellcheck appears to be working again. However, my experience has been that it’s won’t last. I’ll update again.

The spellcheck issue seems to have resolved itself. Here’s what I did:

  • Downgraded to 1.12.7 using the exe found at the releases page at GitHub.
  • Later, following the advice at the discord server, I upgraded using Obsidian itself.
  • That seems to have cleared things up.

Good luck!
