For a very long time, I basically ran my life out of a single Google Doc. It was messy, but it was mine.
The biggest struggle I constantly ran into, though, was the friction between maintaining a short, actionable daily to-do list and keeping track of the actual context of those tasks. I wanted detailed notes and full context right in front of me while working on something, but I didn’t want all that text cluttering up my daily view.
Then, I discovered Obsidian. When I paired it with the Obsidian Tasks plugin, it felt like a revelation. I finally managed to bridge the gap between “what to do” and “what this task is actually about.”
But there was still one piece missing.
A Single Entry Point
I desperately wanted a single, focused entry point. My ideal scenario was simple: press a hotkey and instantly jump to a clean, short list of my top priorities so I knew exactly what to focus on.
I spent months in a cycle of trial and error. I tested a ton of different community options, custom dashboards, and workarounds, but absolutely nothing felt right for my workflow. I just wanted to get straight to work without navigating through my vault every morning.
So, I decided to build it myself.
Enter Tasks Eye
After a lot of tinkering, I’m really excited to share a plugin I developed to solve this exact problem: Tasks Eye.
While I’ve packed a few extra pieces of functionality in there, the main goal is brutally simple: Hit Ctrl + 1 and instantly see your priorities for Today.
