Hi everybody, I’m Alejandro, a software engineer and writer. Following up on Scribe of Lagash - Visualization, here’s the second module in the set.

Scribe of Lagash - Goals and Stats helps writers set goals and see detailed statistics for those goals and for the story as a whole. Like Visualization, it’s independent and single-concern — you can use it on its own, or alongside the other modules, and it never touches your chapter/scene notes: it only reads them to measure them.

I’ve got a stable version that I’m using myself, and your feedback will help me improve it. Thanks!

Point it at your story folder, set a daily word (or character) goal and the days of the week you write, and the writing-goal widget in the sidebar shows a ring for today’s progress, a week/month summary, and a month calendar colouring each day by whether it met, partly met, or missed the goal — kept in a plugin-managed file in the vault, so it survives an uninstall/reinstall and travels with however you already sync your vault. “Written today” is a real word-level diff against how each note read at the start of the day, so cleaning up old text never lowers today’s count — only what you actually wrote today does. Reach the goal and a toast, a confetti burst, and a status-bar item say so, whether or not the widget is open. A separate Goals and Stats tab gives the same history over longer windows (week, month, rolling 7/30 days, year), and a plain writing-session countdown timer sits in the widget for timed writing sprints. Every note in your story folder also shows its word/character count right in the file explorer, with folders totalling what’s beneath them — scoped to one folder, or excluded per note/folder, as you like.

Planned next: total word count and deadline goal targets with a projected completion date, writing streaks, story-wide stats (sentence/paragraph counts, average scene/chapter length, reading time), and repeated-word analysis to catch overused crutch words.
