Hi everyone! I recently released Notelets, an Obsidian plugin that imports frontend projects into your vault as functional notes.

Select a local folder containing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, or other assets. Notelets imports the project, preserves its supporting files, updates the necessary asset paths, and creates a note where the result can be viewed and used inside Obsidian. If your CSS and JS is all contained in a single HTML file, you can import by file rather than folder.

It works well for:

  • Interactive widgets and generators

  • Calculators and dashboards

  • HTML documents and presentations

  • Archived webpages

  • Small, self-contained web apps

  • Personal frontend experiments

I made Notelets because I have a growing collection of small frontend tools that I wanted to use inside Obsidian without hosting them elsewhere or rebuilding them individually. The imported files remain local and under the user’s control.

The plugin also includes a blank starter template for creating new notelets.

While testing it, I completed an extremely unnecessary but satisfying loop:

Obsidian note → exported frontend files → imported Obsidian note

I’d love to hear what kinds of frontend projects other people might want to keep inside their vaults. Bug reports, ideas, and unusual use cases are all welcome.
