Hey guys! I created my first Obsidian plugin. I’ve been using Obsidian for a while now, about 3 years. Obsidian was my go-to for taking large notes, but for quick notes I wasn’t comfortable using it. I instead used Apple Notes. They had a nice quick capture button in Control Center, but Apple Notes isn’t the best place to expand on a thought, or to find those notes later. That’s why I created Atoms.
You use the quick capture shortcut I created and you can take your note in 5 seconds. (Ironically, Android doesn’t have this power with Shortcuts. I have a companion app releasing soon that will make the experience even better than the iOS shortcut. Let me know if you want to test it before it’s reviewed and released to prod) This takes away the weight of having to open Obsidian, make a note, categorize it, add tags, etc. You don’t categorize it yourself. Atoms titles it, links it, and draws connections. Your original words stay verbatim. You expand later if you want.
What I actually use it for: notes about my girlfriend (her preferences, cute tendencies, clothing sizes, etc), ideas, observations, people’s names (and where I met them, i usually remember faces, this way when I see their face I can search my Atoms - when I see their name, it comes back to me).
The true power is the MCP connection to Claude, ChatGPT, or Grok. That’s how those notes come back, draw connections, and show up in routines. I have had some wow moments when I reference a note and it draws a connection I wouldnt have expected before.
