Use case or problem
I don’t know how other users fare, but I really find the interface for navigating plugins non-intuitive and awkward. A big part of the problem is that there is no way to easily move from a plugin’s options to the documentation, Github link, etc. Say I’ve clicked on a plugin to view documentation, then I click on the options button, then want to return to the documentation. There’s no back button or other method of simply returning. I have to go back to “community plugins”, search the plugin again, click on it, etc. Same deal if I want to view the hotkeys and then get back to documentation. This can be frustrating in a situation where I want to toggle back and forth between documentation and options.
Also confusing is that there are two different systems for listing the plugins: the one when you open settings and the “browse” interface. If I click on a plugin in the settings view, I enter the “browse” interface but then clicking on what looks like a back button doesn’t return me to the previous view but rather places me fully in the “browse” interface. The plugin I was just viewing isn’t even highlighted.
To me it feels like different UI elements that were developed at different times and layered over each other, rather than being a single integrated system with a coherent logic. Thus, the experience of using the navigation feels fragmented and unnecessarily complicated, at least to me.
Proposed solution
Unify the plugins interface with an emphasis on ease of navigation, in all directions.
Current workaround (optional)
View documentation online while working on a plugin’s options.
