Please help, everything is frozen

What I’m trying to do

I’m new to obsidian and have a tiny vault. The whole app froze on me after I tried to paste into the page I’m working on.

Things I have tried

I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Restarted my computer. I log back in and it's still frozen. I can't click on anything. Feeling like my time with obsidian was short lived and I guess I just don't get access to it anymore. Any suggestions?

What does it mean it’s frozen

It means that the app loads on my desktop, but I can’t click on anything, can’t write anything, can’t even close it (I have to force it closed). It’s essentially just a window into the last thing I did, no functionality at all. Also this is on Windows.

Where did you put your vault? Which directory?

Are you using third party sync systems?

thank you so so much for your responses. I have my vault in my C drive. And I am not using third-party sync, but I do have the Obsidian sync set up.

what is the path to your vault exactly?

Do you recall what was the note you were working on before this started happening?

The path is C:\Users\bryan\OneDrive\Vault

Last file I was working on is called “Frame 1”

  1. You said that you were not using third party sync systems but the vault is in One Drive.
  2. Make a backup somewhere
  3. Move your vault out of OneDrive, into another normal folder, say C:\Users\bryan\Vault
  4. Obsidian should start, point it to the new vault location.

Thanks! It’s a new computer (to me), so I wasn’t even aware of what One Drive was. I did what you said and still got a freeze up specifically when I try to open Frame 1. I ended up deleting it since I have the data backed up elsewhere. Lost my community plug-ins, but everything else is there. And it’s all functioning again. Thank you for your help!

If you have a copy of frame 1, please dm it to me so I can check if it causes problem.

lol kudos to you for not knowing what one drive was, yet knowing obsidian exists.
