I am using an outdated third party community plugin, called “Attachment Name Formatting” and that plugin is causing a bug to occur. Here’s the bug:
When inserting images, gifs, or videos into a file, the names of those attachments pop up in the Files tab. I created a special folder for those attachments, putting them all in the folder that I named: “_Images, GIF’s, and Videos”.
Sometimes, when exiting out of files with those attachments, the names of those attachments will randomly pop up in the Files tab - escaping the “_Images, GIF’s, and Videos” folder I created for them to stay in.
Is there a fix for this issue?
What I’m trying to do
I’m trying to have all photos, videos, and gifs in a neat folder in the files tab.
Things I have tried
-
Checked the plugin’s settings: If “custom subfolders per attachment type” is enabled, disable it. Also, I set the “one-to-many” handling to “NoChange”.
-
My folder name: “_Images, GIF’s, and Videos” has a comma and apostrophe - special characters can sometimes trip up plugins or file systems. Renamed it to something plain like “_Images_GIFs_Videos”, but that did not work.
-
Searched for temp files, but found none: The plugin mentions creating “tmp_xxx” files for conflicts.

Updated Obsidian to the latest version.
