Persistent preview pane howto?

This might be a noob question, but how do I always have a preview of a file that I am working on in a separate pane? It is cumbersome to always have to press Ctrl+E

I tried Ctrl+Click on the preview icon, but the pane that opens up is linked to the note and when I open a new note, it does not load it and instead sticks to the old one.

This is the way Obsidian works the first time I open the “Help” database, but I seem to have missed this somewhere.

In other words, you’re hoping for a “Preview current note” pane that works the same way an unlinked backlinks or graph view pane works? This is not possible at the moment, but feel free to open a thread in #feature-requests for it!

Ctrl+Click opens up a preview pane that I can (sort of) move around and it automatically moves to the newest file opened right now. I don’t know if this is intended behavior but I like the result - a semi-permanent preview pane.
