PDF ++ plugin - Highlight extraction customization

I want to customize the highlights from PDF++ plugin to extract the highlight like this:

Instead of using callout, I only want the color at the beginning of the highlight extraction. Why? Because this format is more convinient to use bullet points and block references.

Any idea of where could I start to implement this? Can I implement it directly in the plugin configuration? Does it requiere an external snippet?
