Hi everyone,
I’m trying to highlight text in a PDF. This should be possible using PDF++.
I’ve installed and activated the plugin.
I select text in the PDF – and then I’m stuck:
No matter where I click, no matter what I do, I can’t get any color highlighting in the PDF. Whether I click on one of the color circles at the top and then select text, or vice versa, whether the pen icon in the square in the upper right is activated or not, or even the mouse context menu – I’m stuck. I can’t find any explanations that help me.
Is this actually completely self-explanatory and I’m just being dense?
Ultimately, I would also like to copy the marked text with source information into an Obsidian MD file, but that is the next step.
Thanks for all hints.
Hi, do you try to reload the plugin? Sometimes I also catch this bug, in that case I reload plugin and all work good.
I tried often. Thanks for the hint.
Meanwhile I’ve managed to check a box so that, at least with the yellow option, the selected text in the PDF is highlighted simultaneously with pasting the text into an MD file.
But I’m still completely baffled as to how to configure the other (color) options (red for important, blue for disagree, green for agree).
And now - I only switched one time the “Highlight a backlink only if a color is specified” to OFF and back to ON - nothing works again - even if I close and restart Obsidian.
And now – I just tried activating the “Show icon for offset backlinks” option – (no new icon appears anywhere, but) as soon as I click on the yellow area, “Text copied” appears on the right, and I can paste the selected text.
What kind of plugin is this?
I just don’t get it. I haven’t changed anything, I just switched back to Obsidian and PDF++ after doing other things. Now, when I select text and click the yellow area, I can only paste content into the MD file that I copied in another application. PDF++ doesn’t copy the text selected in the PDF to the memory.
If there’s a better/more reliable plugin for copying and pasting from PDFs, please let me know. This PDF++ is driving me crazy.
To make highlights visible in a PDF document, you need to insert a link to the highlighted annotation somewhere in the note. You can’t create an annotation on its own (at least I haven’t found a way).
